I left in 2022 because I couldn't take the hostile work environment anymore. Are things still the same or have there been any improvements? I don't know why I'm suddenly curious nearly three years later. Call it New Year-induced nostalgia or whatever, I guess.

Not at all, "lead by example" doesn't exist with upper management expecting heavier workloads on more junior employees than they have on themselves (more often than not we're told to continue working while they proceed to leave and go home). There's definitely some understaffing but it doesn't help that management lacks the skills to be able to properly manage workloads on people.
