Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

No one wants to work here anymore

My crew is terribly understaffed. People who were hired left in record time. Does anyone want to work here anymore? It seems that the reputation has hit the rock bottom.

Yes HireVue has made it difficult. We even had a retiree want to come back awhile ago with 26 years experience but couldn’t pass hirevue. Currently in Montana HireVue has been disabled to try and fill the positions and no applications are being done.

7 open reqs in Montana. Bozeman open req has been open for 215 plus days. Kalispell Montana has an open req for 395 days and counting. Montana is expensive to live in. Even top pay won't find you a place to live in Bozeman.

Longtime employees are jumping ship daily. We are spread so thin and they are not replacing them. I think new jobs are all stuck at VP level and go into a holding queue there.

Maybe think about elimination of stupid dept. of blah blickety blah and spend $ to people that install, repair and are able to help with programming errors to deliver a quality product. Gold Mine.

After last years Jeff massive layoffs Lumen is now struggling retaining and hiring new employees. Many that get turned away fail the dr-g test.

Lumen can’t even afford a Burrito Supreme with this stock price! Now that’s funny! Thank your Leader Story for ripping investors off for years and paying himself 11 million a year! Touché!

Ah! Sarcasm!
Everyone I work with comes from all backgrounds.
Most telecommunications techs have very little training or education. Couple of years of trade school (dummy school) or apprentice with journeyman splicer.

I work with Ex logger, car salesman, auto mechanic, construction ditch digger, fisherman, grocery worker. I myself worked as grocery bagger and furniture mover.
Our best techs we have are logger and grocery worker.

So, which background did you come from?

I just got hired with Lumen.
This is piece a cake job compared to working at the sawmill.
I've been telling friends to come work for Lumen. Pays twice as much with good benefits. 😃 😊

Its true. Kate asked what programs to stop. How about every program where the staff is 90% plus non lumen consultants. Then eliminate management persons where employees reporting to them are 90% plus all consultants or have 3 or less reporting to them. Thats an easy report. Then the systems left with nobody are candidates for immediate elimination.

Where I work we have nothing to do. Nobody wants to do anything either. Years of burn out. Just going through the motions now.

Yeah no one would recommend it these days. The guys that stay do it because they get so much OT, they might as well for now. They could cut 50% of management and no one would notice.
