Number of people dying from bad management decisions. Both companies have deaths associated with managers ignoring senior technical personnel and violating company and industry safety standards. VP of drilling never drilled a well. VP of completions never completed a well. What could possibly go wrong with this logic? Hire more VPs and fire more engineers. Bankrupt the company using the CEO's playbook that has been finely tuned to make executive management rich. Life is karma. You can't keep this up forever.

@23t you must have worked in the Haynesville Shale. There has never been and probably never will be a higher plateau for incompetence. Their only core value is “Fake it til you make it, then fake it some more. Repeat until caught, then lie”.
It's easy for incompentent people to survive when they work for incompetent bosses. That's how the VP's survive as nobody above them can recognize the incompetence. But their direct reports and below know as they see the incompetence on a daily basis but they are never asked for their opinions.
Boeing will have government contracts to fall back onto, no matter the swings. Ex-pants will have till the end of MAGA.
