PIP In Disguise as Layoff

I have hit all my goals and performance metrics, and still receive a partial meets. Which put me on a PIP. Is a PIP just a way for the company to let someone go without giving them a package, like they did in the past when it was a layoff?

Has anyone used a lawyer in Florida to fight this when it has happened?

Try putting the PIP on Chatgpt to analyze, it tells you a lot about the hidden intentions

Be lucky you even got a PIP. I met with my manager every week for 6 months because we were focused on contract updates. Not once was there even a remotely close discussion about poor performance. I was let go for being below expectations in early December, the day before I was supposed to get my review. I never saw it, so I have no idea what I did wrong. I was never on a PIP in nearly 30 yrs, never had a convo that can be construed as a warning. It just came out of the blue. You're never supposed to be surprised by your review and if you are, that's indicative of a terrible manager or management that changed your rating because they want to get rid of you. So, yes PIP is an obvious warning and something you don't want, ever. But, it may not matter anyway. Take it from me.

If you were met some and never on a pip then it should be an informal . If one one prior its a formal pip. This place is pulling the most disgusting sh-t. Below automatic termination now and they cant even explain why ratings were altered to that. Ethics needs to be blown up for this

PIP is just a way for them to fire you. They have to have 20pct not met expectations. The only people remaining will be the ones who will work for nothing.

You are correct, I was based out of Lake Mary and got hit with a PIP I was told I could survive. My manager also told me about another employee she had reporting to her that she had put on a pip, but he survived it. The big tell was when I was tasked with training 2 new people to take over a majority of my work. No severance, marked as ineligible for rehire as well. Read that severance packet thoroughly, best of luck I mean that in all honesty.

Partial meets is also an excuse for layoff. It happened to me in q1 2025. I was put on a bogus pip with no clear goals or timeline and let go about a month later. It probably was the best thing to happen to me , since I found a better job with better pay and way better management. Management at BNY is spineless and they will throw anyone under the bus to please RV and his dipsh-t cronies. It is the shittiest management I have ever seen in my professional career. Take all your vacation sick days pto etc. as BNY will not pay for unused pto. Start looking for another job immediately.
