Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Where will Verizon be?

Just make your best guess/bet. Where do you see Verizon 5-10 years from now?

Zombie utility company. Profitable so won’t file bankruptcy, will continue to just lurch along.

In a few years phones won't exist (people will move on to other wearables like glasses, watches, rings, etc. and companies like meta, google, amazon will provide their own services following their own standards (not 3gpp standards).
I don't think Verizon/AT&T/T-Mobile will be able to compete with the hyperscalers like Google, Meta, Amazon, Tesla, etc.

I think the company will sputter along much as it has over the past few years. Verizon is still immensely profitable and will not fail completely. I don't expect it to return to its former glory—those days are over. Headcount will likely be reduced until it reaches the point of operational strain, then stabilize at that level.

There may also be ongoing jockeying among the major service providers over which one will reign supreme for a moment.

I think some form or bankruptcy/restructure in the next 5-7 years will be needed .I m really unsure how Verizon can reclaim it’s thrown at this point so far down the tube .Not even sure that the frontier acquisition is a good idea since there has been so many bad purchases losses like Aol

@OP Verizon will be doing even better then its doing now when all the fat is gone. Great dividend for the times is why the big institutions hold it. For the people saying bankruptcy they don't know anything about the company they work for. For the people that say satellite company would buy Verizon also don't know anything about Verizon or the network. From the question and answers on this site, AI will be very big plus for job replacement. Rank #30 out of fortune 500. The second most valuable telecom brand worldwide.

Split into two main entities, wireless and wireline. International operations sold off or closed down or possibly using local partners. Basically there won’t be a Verizon as such any more

Sold off in pieces to competitors. Spectrum sold to Elon Musk for Starlink. Won’t exist as a brand in 7-10 years.

Will have declared "BANKRUPTCY" and then reemerged as a solvent company with restructured, "less" corporate debt. This will allow for a much needed pristine corporate balance sheet.

@by acquired by a satellite company, why, so what would be the assets that Verizon would be accretive? There will never be a benefit/cost for any acquirer? Specifically, with all the corporate debt on the corporate balance sheet.

@OP permanently, better late than never, move the current corporate HQ to a red state, leaving the current blue state, and primarily for corporate taxes and legal liabilities. This is a no brainer!!!

@OP less polarized with Asian-Indians. No more DEI. Precluding, gone, Indians' holding H-1B visa status being gainfully employed.

See it being bankrupt and possibly split within 7 years. Too much debt, more wireless competition, possibly satellite phone service, yet pay millions to the upper dunderheads to run the company

@OP Verizon will still be around but it won’t be doing great. There might be more mergers and acquisitions (like Frontier) but I don’t see it recapturing its once dominant position in the industry.

But then again if you had told me 12 years ago that Verizon would stumble and T-Mobile would rise, I would have laughed at you.

Should do pretty good. Once we cross sell ftth and cell. Also the layoffs should increase profits for the stock.

Verizon will be leading in its core competency to power and empower the way we work, live and play through convergence of mobile and home. It will also be the world leader in applied AI in the vision set out by first rate leader Shankar. The future energizes us!
