Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Sold all my nike shares

Left nike 18 months ago and I had a huge amount of Nike stocks. Sold everything today at a 12% loss. I held nike stocks only because it was part of ESPP. This is my first time losing money on the stock market but it is not the 12% that su-ks! It is the cost of losing out on 17%-20% in the broad index funds. Unless nike does 40%-50%, there is no reason to hold nike for the next few years. Had hopes on EH for a few months but the execution is terrible. Best case for NKE is 70 at the end of the year. Sp500 will do 10% meanwhile.

I am done with following nike - great brand, worst company to work for!

Please, please, please. Get yourself a financial advisor. At the minimum because if you just sold at a loss, you lost the tax benefit or holding some a few more days and then spread the capital loss in two years instead of caping one.

@OP I have officially put NKE as brain dead company. The body is moving along so far but between the ears, there is nothing.
Eventually, it will trip and will not be able to get up.
They will join UA, Puma Lululemon as company officially dead

Whoever thinks NKE is now bottomed out is not observing their surroundings.

Nike is an import/export business wrapped in celebrity endorsements, in a period of collapsing globalization, infected with leeches in leadership positions. The only reason I’d buy is if I had insider knowledge that we’re bringing some manufacturing stateside but even then I have exposure through biannual ESPP purchases.

I do feel bad for any employees that naively refused to diversify their investments. Employment is ‘now’ investments are ‘the future’, you need to hedge against storm clouds on the horizon not double down in vegas with everything on red. You are playing to ‘not lose’. You are not playing ‘to win’ in a single hand.

You should be buying not selling right now FYI.

Sell ESPP as soon at you purchase. Don't hold.

You need to buy low and sell high next time.
