More layers of managements at Cisco than when I was military. At least in the army it was largely based on skill and experience unlike Cisco where BS and politicking is all that matters.

IF there is a mid year advance it will be announced during the Q2 earnings call in Feb and usually paid in March but that can vary by geographic location
