If you work for a manager who loves saying "it is what it is", you work at a bad place.

You also know you work for a bad place if nobody in the team ever gets promoted, including a TDP convert who is still stuck at level 1A after working on the team for 3 years.

How to get promoted- su-k up to your AVP , fill your Teams with 1-1’s and talk BS for hours knowing you won’t be doing the work . Fill your diary with phantom calls saying you are busy . Worked for years for me :)

No promotions, no movement, only a new round of “transformation” courses every 5 years for jobs they will outsource to India. The only new hires are nepotism hires.

And a stellar 17 year career. Mentored new hires, was consultant for creation of 2 transformative projects, each annual review great for 15 years.. different managers and groups. Then the past 2.5 years.. new controlling “manager” (boss),.. got hit with “su-k it up buttercup” to my increases 300% quota.. customer who is narcissistic lie,, and managed out of the business. “Customer perception is reality “, when I refuted the customer BS and manager BS. So one Weak, pathetic manager… gets promoted and I’m done. It’s a blessing .. as the company is run by narcissists, stinky and crew.. time to live life.. and wish the pos… “nothing but the best”.. their days shall be rotten

My manager def uses the phrase “ it is what it is” but, to be fair…as an L2 AD with no leeway given to them to alter any policy mandate or use their own judgement on anything….what do you expect them to say?

Even the Directors have no autonomy.

Best method to attempt to get promoted at T...

Deliberately f*ck up and then come back and fix the issues you created. They reward fixing problems more than doing things right the first time.

Only promotions going on at T are VPs (and above) getting promoted for being a complete f-up! They completely destroy a team, then get promoted… WTF?!?! The T way is to reward failure!

This has been my experience. Heck I celebrate anyone getting promoted to anything and we never hear about individuals getting recognition below an L3.
