Thread regarding US Foods layoffs

Sad xmas

I can’t sleep after being laid off by digi-wreck a few months back and not finding anything to replace my job. I could not buy gifts this year for my kids and we are all scared.. I tried to apply for fast food, retail, and construction jobs until I find something in IT and they said I was over qualified. We will keep trying. Please don’t forget those of us that were laid off and those that will be losing their jobs next year. It is really sad and very real. I wish they had just told us there was a high possibility of lay offs in advance so we could have searched before the layoffs happened but they didn’t trust their teams . My family does wish you all happiness this holiday season.

Bless his family. Did MR. F call them? My old CEO would call employees even if they were seriously hurt. I should have stayed at Sysco!

Oh my. My New Year’s Day is ruined. Did any executive call the family? Can we have the address and number so we can call or send money?

It’s me again, but please drop the angel name. If I was that, I would have done more sooner. No executive was involved on the assistance nor on the meetings/ team calls they had. From what I was told, my CHRO executive was told but didn’t participate at all. And there lies part of the problem. That being said, the local leaders all joined with a broken heart.

HR angel,

Were there any executives ‘involved’. Like not the area VPs and Prezs but like the real executives? I want to know like how much they think of us even when we die at work.

Me again. No, I am told he was called but didn’t get involved. He stayed on the sidelines on this one so everyone can relax and know that his past and privacy will be handled nicely. I shared your concerns about him being involved and it was the first question I asked. When I asked the person I know if he was part of the team, he told me that BP was not involved at all. So we can all take a collective sigh of relief.

I am so sorry to hear this. Who did the crash investigation? If it is the cournal, it will be fu---d up and he will be talked about. There goes the man’s privacy.

Happy new years to it all. It is your HR friend here. I was not involved in this one but heard about it none the less. I was told that many came together to assist our associates and the family. They even put grief counselors there for the associates who might be struggling with this. We all do a nice job on these sad times. Bless all of you there.

Easy IT nerds. Go have some drinks and come back on the new year and keep the talking with each other and the outside world going until they do something about what has been bunching up our pa-ties.

I hear ya. I do the same. Our VP in Digi-tech made it clear how easy it is to tell who and how we are answering the surveys so I always tell them what they want to hear. I think it is using fear to control what we say so she can keep climbing the ladder. It is best that we keep that going or else.

Thank you no matter who you are. Bless you and your family for offering but I will figure this out. My team and our customers care more than all of my digitech leaders ever did. All they care about is how to look to get the next promotion. They worry so much about what they call our team’s brand that they don’t concentrate on the right things and our cyber protection suffers. We were successfully attacked this year because of it. I miss my team members but not them. We all fake our team surveys because they tell us they can tell by age- s-x - race on how we scored it so they can figure it out. So we just give good answers.

I think it might be one of my first watch customers. I had a lot of questions about this website from my FW reps Friday. I didn’t know about this site. I spent 3 hours and 3 coffees this morning reading it all and I have to say, I agree with all of it. It’s a sad morning to realize your peers see the crumbling of a culture because they refuse to admit they made mistakes and then refuse to correct the course and make the required changes. He.asked me to read through it and then he will call me back next year to speak again. If it is you, thank you for helping this poor soul. Very kind of you.

Thank you but I was taught by my father to recover from difficulties on my own and I need to that on my own. I have friends that I am leaving behind in Digi-tech in US Foods and I don't want them to get tossed out like I was so I appreciate anything you can do to help them. They made a business decision and I am good with that. It is a capitalist move. What my friends there need is for someone to do something about the bad cop and how and who they hire We also have very bad leaders in DT but our execs will figure it out and take care of business. Bless all of you for your help tonight. I love and thank you all and wish you the best.

Hello, I am a regional director of operations with the premier national breakfast, brunch, and other options restaurant. I am not sure where you are located but US Foods are a major supplier of ours. One of my district managers told me of your situation and we want to help. Can you tell us where you reside and I am hopeful that there may be one of our restaurants near by or another manner we can help you. We may have a job for you at one of our restaurants or better depending on where you are and what you do. I am glad to see your peers are trying to help but very upset on some of what I have read tonight and will address it within my organization. Can you please post your city and state and I will have the right manager reach out?

Sh-t! Hamburger helper for Christmas after you worked so hard just to move your job over the ocean. I understand it is business but couldn’t we have made it easier for him by telling him it was coming a couple of months prior snd allowing him to keep working so his family didn’t have to suffer? We now all know how the digitech leaders treat their employees.

Great advise on the thinning the resume idea. I can’t leave gaps but I can lessen my role. Thank you. Because of the medical out of pocket costs, we just ate hamburger helper and that was tough. I don’t want a fund me page because I want to overcome this myself and not ask friends for help so I am willing to take 2 full time jobs doing anything. Thank you all for caring. I am doing that right now.

I think you should be able to find hotel front desk something, thin out your resume for those entry-level jobs. For entry level, there won't be a very long interview either. It should be possible to get SOME work where you are. You have bills to pay.

Yes, please start a go-fund me page. I think I know who you are. If you email me the go-fund me address, I will get it to our friends discreetly without our mindless barbie or jaba the hut Veeps ever knowing about it.

We miss you. I may have a friend that has a job opening so email me on my gmail account and I can get your resume and give it to her.

I am so very sorry for your difficulty. I have become the HR helper individual on this site based on stories like you just shared. I should have done more after I heard of the secret hires that violated policy. I should have spoken up when our GC was let go in the manner she was because of what many perceive to be her nationality. I should have acted when we spoke about how to conduct layoffs and the callous way they exited those associates. I used to be employed by a company that did that. It was all about helping our associates. I should have done more when I relied on the instruction from Compliance in Workplace Violence and their juvenile training and incompetent management of the episodes at our workplaces. The training has been revamped now and has moved to our HR oversight but the training and management still very much lacks compared to companies where I worked previously. I should have done more when I witnessed the difference in consequences of violators based on their race or s-x. Here is something most of you may not know but the company had been was sued for violations of unfair treatment with women. It led to a financial hit to the company. It should be on-line for review. We are in a better space with women representation now but the post I read about other types of minorities lacking in the VP levels above region or field positions is true. We are still not conforming to FLSA, FMLA, and EEOC regulations. I should have done more about the disparity of salaries for the same reasons. I should have done something when our female associates claimed to be harassed and dismissed when the accused was a certain level in the company. I am still flabbergasted that nobody faced an internal review of how my HR brass violated hiring policies and placed us at risk of a lawsuit by bringing two white males without following our process. You are all in your right conscious to be negligent of reporting incidents when you have witnessed that nothing happens even when it happens within our executives and HR teams. One filing to the EEOC or the DOL would help resolve it.

For those that were laid off, utilize indeed, zip-recruiter, and linked-in. I was able to find those who were separated by term date and assigned areas and I am seeing some openings on those sites that match your skill set. They match places where you show in workday that you currently reside. We cannot offer bad reviews on your time at US Foods so fear not. It is recommended to use the offerings we gave you when you were released. They can help you with medical and other assistance to assist you in your job search and medical coverage.
