Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

How can an organization be this disorganized?

Remote employee- I requested my return package for my laptop and concession device the Monday after Thanksgiving- I just got an email today saying that 'they've approved my ticket, but there is currently a backlog due to a large number of requests with our vendor.' Then HR tells me that it could 'potentially' impact my severance payout if they don't receive it in time as I'll be gone until the 5th to visit family. Then this morning, we finally get some notification about Dan's 20 million dollar 'retraining' fund that he's been bragging about, and they still kick the can down the road saying that we'll get more details in the coming weeks. How can they layoff 13,000 people and not have prepared for this? Anyone else having these kind of issues?

@a2 They are not organized enough to hold anything back, and what do they need laptops for? My boss is gone, my former boss, and my coworkers. The public sector is a mess, and Maggie is leaving on 12/31.

It bad. Same thing with the concession line. Told don't submit till the week of, now they are backlogged. You can't order a new phone until they port the number, once you do order a new phone the overnight will take 2 days, oh and cost you a extra $13 dollars. On top of that the concession line will factory reset on your last day and essentially be a brick if you don't back up anything you are SOL.

@OP how does every director or above that moved to another org all say they need to learn this over here. When they all said the same line during every move. You should know the business at that level. Network and engineering techs all have a understanding how things move and flow. Clean house at the top if you don't understand everything under you

UNCLE DAN says they will take the bumps and bruises. Maybe Verizon will surpass competition on FCC fines this year? That’s about all they’re going to win.

Verizon leadership could not run a lemonade stand. A full clean house of Associate Directors and above needs to be performed. brown-nose based leadership

There is no leadership at all. I turned my truck and equipment in yesterday and not looking back. I covered 4 states in OPS. I think the closest tech is now 4 hours away.
They don’t care about customers either.

They won't hold your severance. Just send it back when you finally get the boxes.
