Agree, it's sad to see people go. Job market is tough, but then again it's always a challenge finding a job.
It's not as daunting for an older person to find a job as it was once was. There are companies who will hire older workers, especially given all of the problems today with younger people who often don't have a strong work ethic.
It was sad seeing so many goodbye emails today. Sad because I feel bad for the people who now have to job hunt in this terrible market (and many will encounter age-ism).
Also sad because I know there's a good chance I'll have to write one of these goodbye emails in the near future.
I work in finance. More layoffs are planned for the first half of the year.
