Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Leadership blind spots

The decision-makers at Mattel are stuck thinking one quarter at a time. There is no long-range vision, just constant reaction. It’s like they’re having trouble realizing that popular trends can last anywhere from a month to years and you can’t base a whole business strategy on just that. That lack of foresight is painful to watch.

@df let the little tw-t say what he wants. No one cares, which is why HE speaks this way. Daddy didn’t give him enough wuv and he’ll never meet his expectations so he pretends not to care so as to protect himself wee little heart. Grow up boy! You will never make senior a-s kiss her this way.

The biggest blind spot is Mattel is no longer a toy company as it was years ago. It’s a IP company that makes toys on its IP. There is no interest in making new toy or taking a risk on making anything new. Just service the existing IP so they can make new TV, movies, and online content. Don’t believe me watch the attached video

Because to some people it's all they know and they're too scared to try to go anywhere else. It's easier to hide under your desk every year and hope that it's not your number that comes up this time. A lot of you are in denial and just plain scared of what real work looks like outside of Mattel.

Mattel appointed a Chief Consumer Prioducts and Experience Officer….. how about read the book on how to do that by Pleasant Roland, founder of American Girl Brand. Should be an easy read as just about every strategic move Mattel has made since Pleasant sold her company has been the WRONG move. Mattel has a pathelogical problem of doing the wrong things. American Girl brand was an 800 million dollar revenue machine that devolved into whatever the he-l it is today. Missteps, misfortune all at the controls of Mattel!
