Thread regarding NXP layoffs

A great offer came my way, but I just started my current job

I've only been here for a few months, and a fantastic opportunity at another firm just landed in my lap. With this job market, I know how lucky I am, especially since this is a role I've wanted for years. While my current job is fine, it doesn't compare to this new offer. How bad would it look if I left so soon after joining? Especially long-term on my resume?

For NXP? Nah. Doesn’t worth it. If u sure for the new role, just go.

NXP announced they are leaving the US and will be closing all factories. Granted that may take a couple years if you are at ATMC. They already announced the Oakhill site is for sale, and NXP ECHO fab in CHD is shutting down first quarter 2027.

It is something to consider when making your decision regarding long term stability. In future interviews I think people would be understanding that the company planned exit US manufacturing so you took a new position. That would not cause alarms.

I agree....if the new position offers more security, and you feel more rewarded take it. You will be talked about for maybe 5 minutes, and then a new topic will come up.

Do whats best for yourself. Companies have very little loyalty to employees these days.

Meh, I worked three months at an unnamed company before bailing and taking a better paying amd more rewarding job. If the new company is stable and a better position take it. Nobody cares, I promise you.

@OP nobody gives a cr-p except for recruiters and hr "specialists" that think all engineers are the same. Make sure that this new role is way better than your current one, and the company is more solid. Anyone with a crumb of brain will understand when you say "nxp had been laying off people, you had no job security. This company was better in its finances and offered a better role and growth opportunities."
