Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Reorg fatigue and shiny new strategy fatigue

What Dan Schulman is proposing isn’t new. You can find old videos of Tami Irwin bragging about how customer centric we’ve become and old videos of Shankar Arumugavelu bragging about how much gen AI has improved things.

We’ve had reorgs that didn’t make much sense every year and a slew of executives who overpromised , underdelivered, and then moved on. Hans, Ronnan Dunne, Manon Brouillette, Shankar, Linda Avery, Diego Scotti, etc…

It’s been years since I’ve worked for other companies. There were problems but I don’t remember it being this bad. I’m worried this might be the new standard in corporate America.

Amen! They said we were doubling down on being customer centric then proceeded to offshore 80-90% of customer service. Once that was done.. then outsource GTS to contractors and offshore.. then push more doors to indirect.. and when new customers started joining at a slower rate. THEN they focused on existing customers to.. raise their prices.. and not just once.. multiple times a year.. for multiple years. And now.. we're about to turn it around?

I actually think it can be done but less likely with existing leadership that remains in place along with current system limitations.

@Verizon TROLL Fatigue - we're all fatigued from your pointless, dull, unimaginative, repetitive trolling. Go crawl back under your rock and be quiet. Nothing you have to say is ever of any interest to anyone on here.

@aa for all Dan;s " straight talk" he sure hasn't even mentioned his part in all this. Not even a hint of responsibility

@a5 I wasn’t trolling! I’m hoping to join a well run company that doesn’t reorg as often and as haphazardly that’s why I’m being cautious about where I apply. Once bitten, twice shy!

I’m happy for you if you were treated fairly and had a good experience at Verizon but don’t assume it was that way for everyone throughout the company.

I think re-orgs in all corporations tbh. I don’t think that in itself is the issue. Real issue is the people chosen for the reorganization. Manon, Diego, Linda Avery, Sam Hammock, all are disastrous choices Hans made in the name of hiring those who doesn’t challenge him and meets his criteria (useless and d-mb).

Dan is just another clown car that will soon be history as well. While we all will only have dividends to show for our stock price.

Long live the absolutely best board. Made of losers like former Starbucks CEO and now our current CEO Dan

Hatchet Man is taking extreme measures to cut costs so he can temporarily inflate shareholder value and collect his $60 million. Then he’ll say adios while Verizon continues to circle the drain
