Building Temperature at 1014 Vine

Given the extremely low temperatures outside, we are aware that the Store Support Center is cooler than normal, and temperatures are fluctuating across the building.

As you know, we have been working with NSG and Corporate Real Estate to update and improve our building's heating and cooling systems; however, these repairs are still underway and will take time to complete.

As you prepare for today, we recommend the following to help maintain your personal comfort:

Dress in layers to adapt to fluctuating temperatures.

If your workspace is located on the south side of the building, keeping window blinds closed can greatly assist in temperature control.

Cover vents along the windows.

Leverage Archibus to reserve workspace on the 13th floor, if needed.

Avoid using space heaters as this can lead to tripped breakers and power outages.

We are aware that the impact is being felt more significantly on some floors. Talk to your leader about exercising flexibility, if needed, based on your floor's conditions.

This afternoon, a sprinkler head froze, causing a water leak in a portion of the 1014 lobby. Because water began to flow in the sprinkler system, a fire alarm sounded, but no fire was present. Thank you to everyone who quickly reacted and began evacuating the building. While there was no threat, we appreciate everyone taking action to keep themselves and others safe.

We are aware of the challenges the fire alarm caused by not being audible on all floors. This is an intentional approach for certain types of emergencies, but it may have caused some confusion. We are reviewing our processes and will communicate any updates needed to ensure this is clearer in the future.

Additionally, we recognize there were issues in other areas of the building today. For those affected by the garage doors this morning, the doors have been fixed and are working properly. In areas of the building that experienced heating issues today, the boiler has been repaired, and the heat is now functioning properly.

Please continue to raise concerns to your leader, Associate Experience business partner or building security so that we can address them.
