Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

EOY holiday parties (or lack thereof in the US )

I’ve noticed some social media posts from BA and Manila’s holiday parties and can’t help but feel sad and a sense of resentment for us American workers. Something has to change on a national and economic policy basis. American workers are getting decimated

RBU part was fun! Could tell that it was on a budget, but it was fun. 1000 people or so there, no leadership team members (which is unusual). It is like everyone moved to Houston and we have been forgotten!

MCBU/permian holiday party was lame, bad food, bad drinks, bad music, very low energy. I feel sorry for those who prioritized such an event over doing something they’d actually enjoy on their Saturday night away from work.

@ah Not to mention all the swag and gift cards they got. Got none of that in SR.

@ah idk what you’re talking about. The Houston “holiday parties” were D-tier catered lunches with Sam’s club wine during work hours. Spouses were explicitly not invited. I’ve had nicer food from the taco bowl catering for working lunches.

Karma is a bi--h pay back for all the years US employees treated foreign employees as something nasty they had stepped on....but now it's your turn you dont like it.......

Oh, I attended some memorable company parties back in the day. HR would be busy with complaints for weeks afterward, haha.

Unless one has been asleep for the past several decades, offshoring of jobs is hardly new. Neither are mergers and subsequent layoffs. The oil industry, including CVX, have been through repeated cycles of mergers and layoffs - Gulf, Texaco, Unocal, Noble, Hess. No one in our government will even remotely care.

We had a holiday lunch. It was a regular catered lunch. Not a real party.

And if you think it’s bad in Houston, just imagine what it’s like in San Ramon.

If you are a GM of a group with personnel in SR, and you have approved celebrations in Houston but not in SR, shame on you. For all the talk about equitable treatment and all that, your poor behaviors continue proving just what a huge pile of cr-p that is. And don’t tell me we don’t have money in the budget for a proper meal for employees in SR when Houston got dinner PLUS SPOUSES. Fu-k off with your bullsh-t.
