Most of probably sense more layoffs coming. Surely they won’t move forward until January though. That would be heartless and the savings would be a rounding error. There are a lot of Sarah haters on here. I’m not one of them, but getting a RIF for Christmas would certainly change my mind

@g1 RIF's are diff per state...CA is 60 days some are a month of notice....
No. But in some cases you could be informed several weeks ahead. Or even months but that is not as likely now. There will probably be some same day notifications this time.
Don't they typically give a decent notice (1-2 months)? I recall another RIF the employees were given a 2 month notice and an opportunity to apply for other positions.
Is actually worse to wait until after holidays to inform people. Getting into bigger debt thinking they have plenty of time to recover... only to learn that they regret overspending. It just makes life that much worse for the ones who are let go. That's not fair. It's inconsiderate. The added stress. If they are informed before the holiday, they can make a responsible decision to return an expensive gift or maybe find another way to spread it out.
Freaking out a month later, filled with regret knowing that your power is being shut off and that extra extravagant gift could have covered that is way more stressful.
What areas will see layoffs?
