Thread regarding United Healthcare layoffs

It’s time for transparency

Following up on the email from yesterday regarding the 401k and today's town hall, I need to address the ongoing issues we're facing. It’s unacceptable that we are constantly being pressured to violate labor laws by working through lunch. PTO has essentially been eliminated, and now we have to seek permission from Workforce just to take time off.

Additionally, being asked to handle two chats at the same pay after the recent pay cuts is beyond unreasonable. We deserve clarity on what management truly expects from us. Why is there a lack of communication regarding the reasons behind these changes? Are the whistleblower TikTok videos the cause of this? It’s time for transparency and respect for the workforce.

Well said, @2m0+1katwry9c.

@OP United Health and Optum are celebrating that AI will soon be helping them reduce the workforce. So why would they care how you feel. person... Other companies, including Meta, Amazon, UnitedHealth, Walmart, JPMorgan Chase, and UPS, which have recently announced layoffs, have framed them more euphemistically in sunny reports to investors about the rise of “automation” and “head count trending down.” Taken together, these statements are extraordinary.

Very upset about 401k going from 4.5% match to 3.5% match.

Info on reorgs?
I keep hearing mentions and whispers of reorgs. Anyone have insight to that? What areas are involved and when?

If you are working through your meal period that is on you. Block out your meal period on your calendar and walk away from the computer.

If the company is asking you to work through it then leave work early that day. If this is consistent then you need to bring it to labor laws.. advocate for yourself if your direct mngmnt is not.

if you think your labor rights are being violated contact your local labor department. If not them, try the federal department of labor. Do not allow yourself to be walked over. Filing a complaint is just an ask of the DOL to investigate, don't feel bad submitting to your state/federal entity. Departments of Labor only react to complaints, they aren't going to look out for your interests unless you alert them to an issue.

There’s a lot of valid complaints about this company, but PTO is not one of them. Sounds like an issue with your specific team, my team approves every PTO request. I’m very happy with my 6 weeks off per year.

@OP These types of violations have been going on forever but it is refreshing to see the employees finally waking up, but it won’t matter because UHG pays millions in fines on fraud, employee retaliation, non compliance with labor laws. They are big enough to absorb those fines. What they are having problems with is all the bad publicity. For years personnel have been complicit in all kinds of of schemes and everyone just wanted to mind their niche and believe all the kool aide these people spew. Hopefully things will begin to change .
