COBRA and ending ACA subsidies

Cobra is expensive but with the subsidies not getting extended, anyone thinking about the optimal decision for health coverage?

Your health benefits are good for the number of weeks you were paid. Hopefully, you should land a new job with benefits.

If your benefits run out, then go for catastrophic insurance. It’s a lot cheaper and covers anything serious.

If you need to see a doctor, then go the local clinic. The tax payers pay for it and it will save you a lot of money. You pay only when you visit, and it’s very reasonable. Most people don’t even know it’s there.

I think you should look into your state's "marketplace" for health care. This will probably be more affordable than COBRA -- I hear the latter is $$$

The Republican plan for you is if you get sick without insurance just please die quickly! God forbid they tax the billionaires a nickel more to help the working class out.

If your AGI is $84600 or less next year, you’ll be eligible for subsidized heath care through the ACA. That’s the route I am taking.

@OP ACA subsidies will continue the same as they were before Covid. The “enhanced ” subsidies will end though so your premiums may double. 😩

If you were laid off and don't have any other insurance to fall back on such as a spouse's, I would 100% apply for Medicaid.

@OP thinking of going to “Obama Care” for a family of 3. Not sure yet the mechanics, haven’t explored it yet. But one of the reason I wanted to be employed because of healthcare insutance.
