Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

I’m miserable here

I would welcome being laid off. I'd leave on my own if there were jobs available. Getting laid off with severance is the second best option. And I'm not the only one feeling this way, I know that for a fact.

@t7 I am with you. Years ago I was laid off from an employer. As I drove home, I felt good right away and I wasn’t worried or upset. That was my wake-up call that I should have left years earlier. I got lucky because instead I got a wonderful severance and took a vacation immediately. All worked out for the best.

@t7 with you 1000%! It took a while to process but I’m glad it happened.

I was laid off at end of September and am thriving not being around the toxicity of my department or the feeling of not being valued by my leadership which over time takes a toll. Yes I actually loved my work, yes it was a shock, no it was not handled well and I miss all the friends I made there but there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Just letting you know everything about getting laid off from there isnt horrible.

@dj Not being their parent is a stupid reason to not try and give encouragement to someone who is struggling. You must be a delight to be around.

@ad It sounds like there are two people who are upset. I love that you work at HCSC and have time to write this stupid response. Perfection.

I do not know what you are going through but do know being on this forum wallowing in misery is not going to help you. I venture to say none of us growing up hoped to one day work for an insurance company but we are here and the only person you hurt not making the best of it is yourself. You cannot control the actions of leadership, but you can do your best in your role, be someone people enjoy working with, and have great relationships with coworkers. The job still won't be perfect if you do those things - nothing is - but you will likely feel more fulfilled and less miserable. I know it's hard and I have awful days too but ultimately I am grateful that I am able to provide for my family and grateful to work with some really cool people. I keep an eye on job boards, shoot out my resume if something looks interesting but if nothing hits at least I have this and that's better than many people have it.

Perspective and gratitude can be life savers when life starts getting you down. Hope it helps.

At the end of the day, no amount of money or comfort is worth your mental health. I wish you good luck!
