Yes and no. C shares for entry level who are clueless about all the other programs are worth it. However, if you are a top performer, in years past, that is where the real money is made. The useless HR function has watered down much of the incentive programs but years ago your salary + bonus and C- shares (good for 2-3 Years) _+ I shares (good for 5 years) + P shares (good for 7 years) + (a little imagination here) could change your family tree. All has changed. Quite a shame really…under NED a pay for performance culture meant everyone was driven. Now…I don’t know…let’s give a weekly pizza party to the most colored hair or better yet a DEI merit badge. All of you might have been 20-30 years to late to the wolf on Wall Street party. Do your research!
Back in the day, yes many years ago, those that received shares year after year and stacked them up & cashed in on enough to make major life purchases. I received shares but not at the level and consistency of others.
Is free money worth it?
Yes, always say yes to free money.
My payout is typically around $80,000.
It depends. Got 200 shares 2 years back and that was $15k payout
NAV is about $3 a quarter on average, but has been rising. So $3 x 8 quarters = $24 x how many shares you received. Q3 was ~$4.50
If you plan on staying with the company for the 2 years of vesting then yes, Chairman shares are a nice bonus. How many shares depends on your level of your role. I'm low on the totem pole so the most I've received is 200 but I have spoken with some higher compensated employees that have received more than my annual salary's worth- talk about deflating. My experience is most roles I have not received any shares but I have had roles in which where I received shares. First couple years of employment did not even know shares was a thing.
