Why have there not been layoffs?

What am I missing?

@bx “peak” is busy time for plans to be onboarded and new patients coming in to have their RXs filled thru Walgreens. Since health plans start Jan 1st there’s a lot of leg work to get patients registered, plan info set up and transferring RXs to the pharmacy. Also they hire a lot of new techs and call center agents to help with the volume so it’s just a busy time of year.

@bc well my boss claims that we should be happy we even got bonuses despite not getting merit raises. Umm ok because I just graduated and worked my a-s off all year to be told I’m not making more money?! Great!

Ok so the employees from OPO are being fired unless they commute to Deerfield? Is this true?
I heard a rumor they want to cut “30% of payroll”. I hope they’re starting at the top because there’s a lot of savings there.
Also, they need to evaluate every pharmacist because they make 6 figures and some aren’t even in clinical roles, such as HR. Do you need a pharmacist to hire other pharmacists? NO!

Amazon and the post office both use the term 'peak' to refer to the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas when people are buying a ton of stuff.

I heard the layoffs will start in January. They have to get rid of a bunch of employees otherwise they can't fit the OPO people into the Deerfield campus.
Trying not to let it ruin my holidays but it's hard. I have been looking for another job and it's brutal out there! Very scary times.

I think "Peak" refers to the being of the year when a patient's insurance plan changes and/or new patients start with Walgreens. It may be just Central Specialty.

@bc Could you please define what you mean by "Peak"? I've never heard that term before. Thanks.

They are probably assessing the 1st quarter numbers, seeing who will be leaving because of RTO or no raises to get the headcount that will be reduced to make the end of year target earnings. It will most likely happen either just before Peak ends or right after. They need to keep "moral" up during this time.
I wouldn't look to your area leadership for answers since they didn't know about salaried employees not getting raises. Seems like those decisions are being made by the leaders appointed from Sycamore. Layoffs doesn't mean less work for those who stay. They get more responsibility with less compensation. Just be prepared for what will happen.
