Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Union

We desperately need a Union to combat the management we have here. They are out of control and we need to collectively fight back!

Having worked in upstream at MCBU field operations, I can say we pretty much were in a union type environment to an extent. Pay was the exact same for everyone in their pay grade and bonuses were the exact same for everybody. No performance reviews were ever conducted with zero feed back from management. We’ve asked about these issues and was told repeatedly that it was a carry over from California who did unionize with shop stewards and the whole nine yards. When California did their layoffs years ago it was based strictly on seniority due to their union contracts. So yes parts of chevron does have some union impact.

Actually, Unions hurt the average worker by reducing their incentive to work harder to develop and advance themselves by providing an opportunity for them to produce less for the same or better pay as those who excel.

Unions help the below average workers. If you feel like you would benefit from a union , hate to say it but you're below average

Chevron has needed a union for many years. Too many only good things happen to those useless employees that are “sponsored” by a terrible leader. But too many Akiers wouldn't agree to this.

OP: Wouldn’t quitting and finding a company that meets all of your expectations be better for you?

Have YOU ever worked for a union? I have. Forget it. They will su-k your hard earned money in dues, and give you nothing in return.

I know California is just a drop in the bucket for Chevron but PG&E is in a great Union called The Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC). Maybe it could be a starting point or at least a blue print.
