Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Any struggling with the new unassigned seating?

I know our field folks will say that office workers are a bunch of cry babies, but I am really struggling with the new open seating environment that we went to post-reorg. Employee experience is an important way to keep people motivated, and Chevron not being willing to give me a permanent desk where I can keep a few things have some pictures of my kids says so much about how they care about employees. I have never felt more like a number.

I'm not naïve enough to think they ever really valued us but I don't think it's too much to ask for office workers to have a small bit of space for continuity for ergonomic safety, and so we don't have to lug our stuff home every night or jam it into a locker.

Let's save a bit of money by cramming more onto a floor, meanwhile c-suite bonuses continue be astronomical.

Want to invest so little in me? Don't expect extraordinary effort. Because you have demonstrated over and over that we are all expendable. And when other companies come knocking, I will think long and hard on if Chevron deserves my loyalty.

I was laid off last summer and started a fairly successful consulting gig working from home. I have a beautiful private office with a couch and a lovely window view.

Don't miss the bullsh-t you are all putting up with in the least!

@az I agree with you. The HMP has stated there is a 1.3 employee to 1 desk ratio, everyone should realize the plan is to train "the Injuns in the Engine", and then layoff 30% more over in late 2027 - early 2028 timeframe. The timing depends upon the rate they can transfer work to the Engine. 2 years more should be enough

I’m struggling with my unassigned seat since I was not “selected.” Enjoy your time while you can.

@c9 of course. it is very profitable to keep noncapable and unmotivated employees just to avoid paying severance.....your severance is a blip in Chevron's balance sheet; it is noise.
But I am sure you enjoy the blaming your lack of success on the guys at the top, who want you to quit! and you are sticking it to them by staying

Morale is so low, no one wants to do any work. We can all see it coming- how little we are valued because they believe everyone is replaceable. Give them as much in return.
When is the next chance to EOI. Many of us are ready to take it after enduring the aftermath.

@ab in the same way the US employees laughed and help throw other countries employees out the door. Karma can be a real pitch when your turn comes

Open seating is meant to be temporary. Once ENGINE is fully capable and Houston employee count is butchered accordingly, there will be enough office space to go around.

The open floor plan is a demoralization tactic.

They don't care about the US employees they want us to quit. All the m0r0ns that are saying "wow embrace change" are t00ls.

You may want to sit down in your unassigned seat when I tell you this, but the reason they are forcing people back to the office full time and doing things like unassigned seating, is that they want people to quit. It’s not just at Chevron but more of a new corporate strategy for cutting costs. I say don’t give in and unionize.
