I'm confused. Didn't Sarah London say in a Town Hall meeting earlier this year that she was going to enroll in an ICHRA plan next year along with the Indiana employees? This article indicated that she is not...so how can she say that she's going to be giving feedback on her experience with her ICHRA plan when she isn't even going to have one?

It's just a way for the company to promote the illusion that ICHRAs are beneficial and a great opportunity for employees when in actuality ICHRAs enable the company to save money at the expense of the employees and anyone else who is dependent on their health plans. The ones who will suffer the most are the ones who badly needed their health insurance in the first place.

And then there's Sarah London, always keeping everyone's best interests in mind.

"Just think about me. I’m a 45-year-old woman, relatively healthy. Until Saturday, I hadn’t gone to the doctor this year, and so I can tell you the amount I’m paying for health insurance is way overpaying for the actual cost of the care that I need." -Sarah London

I also believe the state of Indiana is offering employers some incentive for offering ICHRA, which is another reason Centene choose that plan to “pilot”.

Also, I don’t care if our CEO is doing ICHRA, she does not depend on the monthly payment to purchase health insurance. She can purchase the best with no financial help.

Indiana has a more robust healthcare system and marketplace plan options than many of the other states. It's the perfect guinea pig state. The goal is to show how successful ICHRA plans are there and then to pretend that regional differences don't matter and then force all employees across the board to take part in ICHRA plans despite whether the marketplace options in their state are decent or pitiful. Another cost saving measure for the company disguised as honest research.

@10z Haha! I’ve been wondering who Indiana ticked off to be the canary in the coal mine for this disaster.

ICHRA is a load of nonsense and it isn’t going to save Ambetter. If I was one of those people in Indiana they forced into that arrangement I’d quit.

STOP PAYING. It is for-profit health "Insurance" You want Insurance? Stop paying for "Insurance" and put that SAME money in the bank and use it when you need Health-Care.
Yep the greed in Insurance premiums has taken us to the point where that actually works!

I work for a marketplace plan. During training I learned how awful Ambetter can be. One talking point was only ONE ultrasound during pregnancy was allowed without prior auth. For clarity, ultrasound is frequently used to confirm pregnancy, and used at least 3 times during a healthy pregnancy for anatomy and measurement, high risk pregnancies can require many more. No one needs this bullsh-t!

It looks like their monthly premium contributions are based upon age, under the general assumption that younger employees don't have chronic health issues or need a plan with good coverage and access.

@a1 Well if a for profit company like Centene is pushing it this hard, it certainly isn’t benefitting the people.

@a1 would imagine not enough to cover the premiums on a good Obamacare policy especially if the credits are not extended.

@OP they compare it to shifting pensions to 401ks but didn’t that just benefit the employer more?
