PMPs are worthless

Had my PMP this morning, and my supervisor confided that he felt I deserved 2 EEs, but that he’s discouraged from giving 2. When I asked what i could do next year to improve my odds, he said nothing, that’s it’s essentially not allowed. Welcome to the new Chevron everyone!

This is classic terrible manager behavior. He sees you as average or just above. But he rates you VC just to keep you happy. Then he feeds you a complete line of BS about how you are totally an EE and he considers you 100% EE but he's not allowed to rate you that way. Tell him to get lost.

@a3 these managers said the same. my manager told me exactly the same... so I know I will be 2 VCs. my boss said he has 20 people under him, and since PSG26 has LTIP, and he was enouraged to give EE to PSG25 or less so they can get some extra $.

Sounds like a bunch of pu$$y managers. What does it even mean that he felt you deserved EE.. he didn’t give it to you and couldn’t deliver the message.

The ratings don’t even matter.

And this is why I am now in the don’t give a fu-k club. Why bother? Get my paycheck and move on. At some point this colossal failure of a reorg will have real repercussions like more incidents, good people leaving in droves, and so on. For now I am just gonna take care of myself, and the whole ELT can go fu-k themselves because they certainly fu---d us over.

My manager told me that they were doing cross team calibrations this year… sounded like everyone was going in with VCs and might be adjusted up or down depending on the conversations.

I was told they put a cap on EEs - i.e., each team has a limit to how many they can distribute.

My supervisor told me he spoke with his boss and was just going to give me 2 VC. But then after speaking to him that he actually wanted to give me 1 VC and 1 EE. He claimed he felt he could make a case for the change to his boss but to not be surprised if I get my workday stuff as 2 VC if he can't make the case. I guess I don't know if it was just his way of trying to manage morale for me since my morale is already pretty low or if he was telling me the truth. TBD I guess. He told me don't worry in either situation because he controls how raises are distributed.
