@d5 Explain multiple appeals all the way up to the Supreme Court to avoid paying snap during the shutdown when specific funding is set aside for it by Congress and by law it is immune to shutdowns. Explain suing states who tried to pay it out of their own money.

"intentionally starving people"

No one is starving in America. No one, you fool.

@OP Now that I read it, I don’t see why commenters are bi--hing. And I don’t even understand why this is a lefty take anymore. Trump has taken a wrecking ball to social programs. For fu-k’s sake he went to the Supreme Court to try not to pay required snap benefits guaranteed by congress that were fully funded, intentionally starving people in the process to avoid having to continue making their healthcare affordable. And in the midst of this carnage a few poor kids will get enough money for a pair of expensive sneakers that they can’t touch and private capital controls and they may never see? Why does that not seem problematic to anyone?

@bb You resign it every day a mob with pitchforks doesn’t descend on you and steal all your toilet paper and food supplies. It’s called society. There’s an implicit acceptance in all societies that some things are socialist (best managed by government without a profit motive) and that some people need help and will get it however greedy or reluctant others are to pay taxes. It’s negotiable how far left or right you go on the spectrum, but most civilized people think decent roads, public schools and universal free or low cost healthcare care are minimums.

Don’t worry folks. Dell promises it will only pay the money to the children of H1Bs.

@bb

I spent time reading that article. The guy is so misguided and bitter. He runs some eco farm out in NC.

Imagine being upset rich people donating 6bn to future kids. Imagine how miserable of a person you must be.

I wonder how much this clown has donated to help society?

From his screed: "This is how the social contract dies without anyone calling it what it is."

Funny, I don't remember signing this so-called "contract". Can someone post a copy of it?

There are ways to criticize Dell, but “it’s bad they are giving money to kids” probably ain’t it.
