Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

who runs the company?

it seems the actual CEO is absent from the EC committee, and she seems to only be present as a cheerleader, and absent from any meaningful actual leadership. Does the board make all the seemingly confusing decisions? is it made in a vacuum by Mason or Gibson? I'm genuinely confused as a a newer employee here...

Nuveen makes the decisions that matter. Everything else is id--t proofed and more or less runs on autopilot.

The EC are nearly all Yesmen to Thasunda. The board of tiaa largely left the firm when she was hired and she replaced them with her own loyal people.

T runs the company and is running it into the ground. Sastry has the most power given his org is the largest with the largest budget. The rest of the EC except for Bill at Nuveen are just talking heads

Bill (Nuveen) is a great leader and knows his stuff, but in reality has no power (which is why Jose likely left Nuveen).

Dowrich likes to think he runs the ship (you can feel the arrogance) but often speaks well out of his depth (albeit very confidently) so it’s hard to trust anything he says.
