Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

I'm moving on from this place

I've handed in my notice because I found a new role. I know I got really, really lucky in this job market. It couldn't have come sooner, since I truly can't take the unhealthy atmosphere here any longer. I’m really going to miss working with a lot of people here, and I genuinely hope every one of you finds something better and gets out of all this stress sooner rather than later. Good luck to everyone.

You leave this place when the pain of staying here is greater than leaving. The pain of staying here can be alleviated if you build up your boundaries, upskill to improve at your job (hopefully on Wells Fargo's dime), and the severance payout. The pain of staying here is having to play the games, loose your ethical base, be abused by your 1 up and 2 up manager. Do a cost/benefit analysis. Its an individual thing. Good luck.

I left too. Found another job. I’d forgotten that it’s possible to be happy and engaged at work—to just have regular days that don’t leave you a miserable wreck, and go home and enjoy your life.

Welp thats exactly what WF wants us all to do. To leave with no severance. 🤦‍♀️ No sir.

@jt You see " I largely see is people who are extremely nieve, overtly and enthusiastically dismissive, disagreeable, unsupportive of established process that works"? Hey guess what. Well's processes do NOT work. The technology is a clusterf...k. As a manager you probably think that it "works" and drive that point into new hires. Don't be proud of your sh..t. -- It is years behind. It might work.. but is it efficient? Can it be converted to run in newer cloud environments? NO.....o Can't convert it into DIC (necessary for cloud) without reengineering it. And your manager. a tech turned into a manager and then back again into an "engineer" who wrote the sh..t says you can't. So If I read your words correctly @jt you're selfish attitude is why cloud and agile transformation failed. It is also why these existentialist programs will happen but offshore or in skunk works locations. The people that need to go in order for Wells exec management to meet its goals bully themselves with such non-productive attitudes. But they do survive.

@av
When I see new people like yourself roll into WF what I largely see is people who are extremely nieve, overtly and enthusiastically dismissive, disagreeable, unsupportive of established process that works, supportive of change for changes sake, and have an overblown sense of who they are.
Best if you tread lightly and get along with folks that have been at the rodeo ALOT longr than you,

I hear you great folks! Unfortunately I had a toxic mid-level manager and got fired without severance but tracking two great opportunities quickly that should both be better and way more long term potential than this place which I always knew holds you back about 3 levels down from where you would be anywhere else. It's been a few weeks for me and all the toxic noise and unbelievable stress/strain is slowly leaving me. It's really true what everyone has said on here, you don't realize how bad it really is until you are gone and see there is a HUGE business world outside of Wells Fargo and most of it is MUCH better /heathier :)

How was work “unhealthy”?

Perhaps your attitude was just unhealthy. Since joining Wells Fargo, what I largely see if people who are aggressively resistant, inefficient, lazy, and entitled. Probably best you are gone.
