Being unemployed, I am looking at the big job boards (which I don't trust) and companies career sites. One thing I notice is that it is quite rare to find a company that uses Oracle for their database.
Thats what I get for sticking with and learning RDBMS ect. for all this time.

Anyone use Essbase?
Not even Oracle!
The financial services industry is still largely running on Oracle, if you need a job asap focus on them.
No.
Each correctly managed company moves forward with technology and tools 🤘🏻
thanks to all of you for your replies.
especially
Better focus on developing your universal IT skills and get some popular and frequently used tools which help you to find a job. The rest throw out to avoid generating dust bin in your head.
i was a guy in support who had customers/.dba's on the phone. I swore I would never do that. I did not know customers were abandoning RDBMS but i know now that
is the truth. I know before I left, custom $$$$$$ SSC support numbers were tanking.
I’m seeing the same thing, all worthless skills in today’s market. Thank god I worked a second remote job for the last 10 years that might just save me. Gotta look out for #1.
O uses old and internal tools, it id not even worthy to mention in your resume. Better focus on developing your universal IT skills and get some popular and frequently used tools which help you to find a job. The rest throw out to avoid generating dust bin in your head.
I'm so glad I'm a retired Oracle DBA... Hang in there...
Oracle database is a slowly dying platform. Tons of customers have been abandoning Oracle for other platforms for many years. The ramifications of it is that there ha been a huge drop in demand for Oracle database skillsets in the job market.
