The in office reporting is officially out. For those that work 3 days in office and 2 days remote. Although the expectation is a full 8 hour day, the requirement for in office hours for reporting purposes is 7 hours. Anything below that you’ll get flagged on the reports.

- it's based on first badge in OR network connection and last badge out OR last time on network
- BYOD/corporate mobile devices don't count as in-office - by definition, they are mobile
- travel days booked thru concur are counted as 8 hrs
- PTO half or full days are counted as 8 hrs
- the report itself is a 4 week average - and has only two tranches: <5 hours and 5-7 hours
Right now the focus is on the <5 hrs average. Anyone in that category that was told and hasn't improved will progress to formal performance warnings over the coming weeks. Then the attention will turn to the 5-7 tranche, with the same path.
@fv "What's a lunch break?"
Something we should all be taking, religiously, especially on in-office days. I figure spending one of my 8-hours-minimum doing something relaxing (reading, watching Netflix on my phone...) in a break room or 'focus' room while I slowly eat my leftovers partially makes up for the time I wasted commuting.
@k9 interesting about the phone not counting. Does anyone remember how they pushed getting this stuff on our phones and even had the cartoons of us driving to a doctors appointment and being on a work call? It was pushed as you can work anywhere. Cool! Guess I’ll be deleting all work apps now. If they are worried about getting a hold of me in an emergency they’ll figure something out.
You must log in on your computer (laptop or desktop) -- phone or iPad won't count.
I've heard both that you won't be flagged as non-compliant unless you're in at least 5 hours (so if you know you can't be in seat in your office at least 5 hours don't bother). But I've heard the "at least 7 hours on average" requirement as well and wonder how that works with the 5 hour threshold (like if you come in 5 days/week even if only 3 is required and you log 5 hours on 2 days and 8 hours on 3 days the average is 6.8 -- so going in the extra days hurts you).
where is the badge out station?
What's a lunch break?
@av an 8 hour workday with an hour lunch is 9 hours in office. 8-5pm (9 hours in office) for example with hour lunch is working 8 hours. Who knows how that equates on the new reporting since it tracks login & logout as first priority tracking. Badge swipes are secondary as not all locations have to badge out. (That was straight from my +2 up manager when it was announced)
@bv > Does anyone know if MS Teams gets on the report if it’s accessed from your phone. There have been times when I have an early doctors appointment and call in to a meeting if I can. But if they are not counting it I will decline next time.
We've been informed all 'presence', both in-office and generally working, is being determined by badge swipes and network logins. That doesn't sound like mobile Teams activity to me, though it's possible there's some sort of allowance for that. But my manager told us to make sure our laptops are connected to the network for minimum 8 hours every work day, and I'm going with that.
@av > If I work 8 hours in the office but take 45 mins lunch outside the building leaving the computer on .... will my time be counted as 7 hrs and 15 mins, or 8hrs?
Our team were told by management that 'a reasonable lunch break' is part of our 8 hours. Managers said they weren't told what 'reasonable' means in the real world, but they are assuming it's an hour or less. They also said leave your laptop locked but connected to the network when you step away, because there's no way to tell the difference between someone eating lunch and someone 'collaborating' away from the desk for an hour. (Our management is not thrilled with RTO and is happy to give us whatever advice they can to stay below the radar.)

@ax what does login mean? Is that the last time one logged in the windows with LAN password? Or last time the computer was connected to WF intranet?
@av No. It’s first badge in, last badge out. Or last computer login time.
Is this week counted towards 3 day/8 hour requirement?
If I work 8 hours in the office but take 45 mins lunch outside the building leaving the computer on .... will my time be counted as 7 hrs and 15 mins, or 8hrs?
There are three buckets. <5, 5-7, 7+.
@a3 7 hours minimum every day.
Average
Do you know if it is an average on 7hrs/day. Or at least 7 hrs every single day
