They are offline because they choose to be. It is their severance period, 30 days paid - they are not burning vacation unless they are complete, utter, mo--ns.
@bb Exactly! My access was removed within the hour after my call. It was done before my severance portal even opened.
Now everyone who lost all those >175% vacation hours because they were so focused on their work can all ask themselves why they sacrificed themselves so much. The rest of us know better than to sacrifice so much because we know we're just employees. We do our work and sacrifice here and there but as a general rule our time is and has always been our time for ourselves and our families.
Been through it prior. You just in a few hours update your replacement on a few things, send them some random docs and then that's it. You are out. They don't expect or want fired employees to be involved in real work. Go have long lunches, go have fun at the gym, take long walks...
@as do you know what severance is? Verizon doesn't have to pay anyone severance. As an agreement to receive that severance you may be obligated to keep working tho usually they dont expect you will
I wanted to end my career on a positive note. After today, I could care less, 25 years of dedicated service, more unpaid overtime than I care to admit, and for what? Shame on you Verizon. Shame on me.

I’m still working and expected to work. Handing off my projects. It there are still areas where I can help.

They fired you, You DO NOT have to be at the office or available online. Tell them to pound sand. The severance period is YOUR TIME, not your managers. Do no VZ work at all, there is nothing they can do to you, you've already been fired.
My director said just to look for jobs and do any development I want. She would take up the slack. She doesn't expect me to finish projects.
My manager kindly asked if we could quickly talk sometime this week to go over an open items but other than that they said they do not expect me to work between now and Dec 19

@a1 my SD told me it's no longer my responsibility and don't worry about even training my boss. I was told to be selfish with my time. Im going to help, but not stress about anything.
I expect that most folks would simply transition their projects and perform handoff. Only an a--hole manager would expect you to continue working after you just lost your job.
They have pulled all my access and my illustrious leader won't even reply to any of my emails or messages with any guidance. So fu-k em
