Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Manager gave us a motivational speech on Friday

I wish I’d recorded our faces while he went on about “dedication” and “hard work.” Even he couldn’t hide that he didn’t believe a single word coming out of his mouth. I honestly don’t get how these corpos still think this kind of theatrics works. Are they really that out of touch? Incredible. And on top of it all, he wasted half an hour of our time.

I've learned how to slow down on the actual work in order to meet the corporate requirements instead of trying to work harder because of them.

One of the signs of a poor manager is a manager who says things like, “Just be happy you have a job.”

I had an Optum manager say in a team meeting that nobody is forcing you to work here when we said we were struggeling to get the work done with the limited people we had. This was soon after we had people let go.

Actually there are a lot of employees that are so clueless, have their heads buried in the sand and actually believe that a company who under major investigation by like everyone, who have upcoming whistleblower investigations where a lot of employees sent info, who have single handily have alledge to have billed fed programs for billions are somehow a great company cause the manager told them so.

I once had a manager say to me that a lot of people in the office are only there to collect a paycheck. Really? Ya think?? I mean, if I didn’t need money to live, I’m sure I’d drag myself out of bed every morning, fight traffic and spend my day performing a thankless job simply because I’m “dedicated” and enjoy “hard work”.
