Got laid off two weeks ago and my gas sponsored credit card still works! Thanks. Feel zero regret about it. If COP read this do something and stop all these cards from working on laid off people. Anyhow this is another example of how badly things are planned in conoco.

Has this guy been prosecuted yet?
I bet your parents are really proud the child they raised turned out to be a petty thief.
oh man.. this happens more often than people think. i know of a few people in the field that after being laid off keep using their gas cards for months without getting caught. if you spend the ordinary amounts no one will notice.. companies don't care even if they notice after awhile.. if someone notices it's their fault for not shutting it on time.. so they're not going to raise the concern. just don't be stupid and spend the normal amounts.. people judging here are jealous they don't get their free gas lol.
They're really that d-mb. Years ago a guy with a company car got laid off overseas and the Company didn't realize it until 18 months later when the former employee wrecked the car.
How a man with a truck is as entitled as a left wing tik tok obsessed teen girl is ridiculous to me and cringe worthy. If this is indeed a truthful post (I doubt it) I wouldn't hesitate to turn you in. You did work - a company paid you fir that work- company doesn't need you anymore - deal with it.
You should have your severance pay revoked for this intentional act of theft. If it was an accident then that is one thing but you seem to be bragging about it and tempting the company to go after you. You know they will know who charged items after they signed severance papers. They may give you a chance to pay it back before they sue you for any severance pay given out.
@dg $40? That's petty cash. It's nothing like a laptop worth a couple grand.
The cops are going to laugh at you if you call them over $40 on a gas card.
@bn You are wrong and right. It happens all the time when people leave the company. They don't return their laptop, an expense didn't get filed, their phone keeps working and so on.
Nobody is going to call the cops, but they just remove it from your severance.
I stand corrected - the cops would be involved if it is deemed intentional (theft) and probably if the amount taken warrants just taking the easy path and adjusting the severance.
Unless you get greedy and buy thousands of dollars of gas on it, nobody will ever catch it.
To all you people who think they company is going to call Johnny Law.... yeah, they don't care about $40 in gas.
Don't get greedy.
You are liable for any charges made on your company card. Enjoy the collections.
I doubt this is real. If it was, the only reason they would share this is because they want to get busted.
The ELT does read these boards. OP isn't the smartest if this is true
That’s called embezzlement. They could file charges against you and not pay you severance. Probably not the best thing to do.
You are going to get $40 worth of gas and lose X-X% more than that in severance. Genius!
If I were you, I would self report it as an accident out of habit, apologize, and offer to pay it back.
