Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Maternity leave during layoff periods?

If maternity leave is likely needed next year, how to best handle during these layoff periods?

Contact Reed, enjoy the bonding leave and ignore all these men who haven't taken paid bonding leave. Don't stress about a layoff. In reality there's not a damn thing we can do about it anyway. If they give you an option take the redeployment. Been there before, it sucks but we can't control what may happen.

Oh good, another PhD... one more overpaid operator for the fabs doing true grade 5 work.

Inside the womb, the baby is thinking deeply about economic conditions, the actions of the Fed and its rate hikes, and when would be the optimal time to enter our world. This indicates a future Ph.D. in the making.

Did someone with maternity leave come to this forum for advice? Many of these people are men who view maternity leave as a vacation. Like someone else said, the baby doesn’t care about the economy. It will be here regardless and needs 3-6 months of your work more than Intel does. Worry about Intel when the baby gets off the daycare waiting list.

What are you suggesting? Cross your legs and keep the baby in a few extra weeks?

You schedule it approximately when you expect the baby with the input of your doctor and then you take it when you need it.

Oh man, people downvoted the "old white guy" that suggested medical leave. If only they knew the truth about pregnancy, medical leave, and short-term disability. All intel employees in the US have pregnant women to thank for short-term disability becoming a no-cost benefit around 5 years ago.

You can always go on medical leave, just need a doctor to give you an excuse, like you are too fat or stupid. I know a few people that have already done this, will be on medical leave for a year. I'm also going on medical leave, my doc says I'm an old white guy.

Right, and if anything you will get the benefit of the doubt since you are a DEI

You take it. You may or may not get laid off during maternity leave. It is equitable for all.
