Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

What's the deal with Humana's 6-week maternity leave?

I'm considering working at Humana but the 6-week paid maternity leave seems really short compared to their competitors.

It makes me wonder about what they actually value as a company. Has anyone worked there and can tell me what they're really like?"Retry

What is your expectation? 6 months of pay to stay home with your baby ?

Humana has many issues. Constant layoffs being the top. If the maternity leave bothers you, I would steer clear because other benefit changes in 2026 are worse for the employees.

Absolutely unacceptable! Take your 6 weeks of short term disability then take that maternity leave!! Childbirth absolutely qualifies for short term disability!

I think it's a very generous maternity leave policy AND it also covers paternity leave. I've never received any kind of maternity leave in the hospitals I've worked at. I had a c-section and a major hernia repair 3 weeks after the birth of the baby and only had 3 weeks of PTO and had to return to work because I needed the money. Not many companies give paid leave for maternity.

They really like employees making money even at the expense of employees well being, despite any known or necessary medical treatment they need. I know several who have taken short term leaves, from 3-6wks long, and since it affects metrics, meaning metrics will go down/below "goal", you will be hounded like a dog until you meet them which can take weeks or months depending on what gets affected. That has caused many employees an immense amount of stress and isn't right in my opinion. The reduced metrics will in turn result in biweekly one on ones with your leader which again, more stress. That's my observation on it. We'll see what others say...
