Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Fate of VZI?

Seems no changes to VZI yesterday. What’s happening from that front? Anyone know Dan’s POV on outsourcing?

I can tell you from my experience that the onshore GTS developers are far more productive and skilled, but you can get 4 offshore for the price of 1 onshore.

VZI is not outsourced, they are the India arm of Verizon for lower pay. They will receive their notifications on 1st Dec, and there is talk of 20-30% cuts across the board. No, the jobs are not coming back, those that are left will just have to su-k it up or leave. Natural attrition will get rid of the rest of the company!

I think it's more about focus and context. The business has a hard time sharing the US consumer context and nuance to India, so they aren't building with all the info they need to solve the right problem. They are requirements monkeys and the tech has prioritized speed and features over value and usefulness. It's why Dan said the business is just too complicated. They've made it this way because they don't understand the customers. And customers no longer feel the price is worth the value Verizon built. It's that simple.
