Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

As a White man at my age, it’s difficult to find work out there. There’s no question about it.

Managers enjoy you working for your retirement. Then they fire you a week before you can retire. With the uncertainty of retirement and so many layoffs how can someone continue to work for a large employer. Work for yourself.

Yep, a lot of true haters here. I was shocked at first seeing posts like this. I guess its people with their masks off showing who they really are. Just makes you more cautious of the people you work with at Boeing.

What is apparent from posts here is that a number of people working at Boeing can honestly be labeled Gerontophobes, who are individuals who openly or subtly harbor hatred towards older individuals or Ableists who are individuals harboring hatred towards disabled people, either openly or subtly.
Both terms highlight societal issues related to ageism and ableism, reflecting negative attitudes towards specific groups.

To @2qm+1kaj464gz

From your post you inferred @2pc+1kaj464gz was denied what you refer to as a disability pension. I don't see anywhere in @2pc+1kaj464gz post where they specifically stated they were denied a disability claim. How did you come to this conclusion? Do you like putting words in other people's mouth who objectively disagree with you or do have poor reading comprehension?
You stated in your post
"People who have questionable claims are the ones who are denied and can’t get a disability pension. You seemed to have a questionable disability diagnosis."

@2pc

I’ve never seen anyone who was truly disabled, not able to get disability benefits. My father who was diagnosed with terminal cancer, was given disability in a matter of weeks.

People who have questionable claims are the ones who are denied and can’t get a disability pension. You seemed to have a questionable disability diagnosis. But somehow want privileges which you already get when you apply for a job for your disability.

You’re given special consideration for disability when you fill out applications at Boeing. If you’re not able to get a job then even with that special consideration, you’re either too old because of age discrimination or you’re not really as qualified as you think you are.

It’s a bad place to work to begin with so I don’t understand why you don’t look someplace else because it’s not a very stable job. Ive seen several people in wheelchairs at Boeing.

You don't have a freaking clue what you are talking about.

You state the average disability check is around $1500 a week. First off, you need to have a statement written by a doctor stating you have a valid disability to be approved to receive SSDI or SSI benefits for people with disabilities. SSDI is tied to your work history. It pays benefits to you and certain members of your family if you:
Have a disability and worked enough years to qualify and paid Social Security taxes during the years you worked.
SSI does not require you to have a work history. It provides you with money to cover basics, emphasis on the word "basics" like food, clothing, and housing if you are 65 or older or have a disability.

Your running your mouth about disabled individuals getting a check for $1,500 a week, which equals $6,000 a month or $72,000 a year doesn't even come close to being correct. Einstein, most disabled people would in fact be lucky to get a check for $1,000 a month from SSDI or SSI or approximately $1,400 for a couple.
You obviously su-k at math and more importantly lack basic common sense to believe $1,500 a week is handed out to all who apply and are accepted to receive SSDI or SSI payments.
There is no way you hold a technical job at Boeing and thank good you don't! You probably don't even work at Boeing because you would have never passed an interview ever.

The keep applying because it’s enough money you can actually live on they don’t have to go back to work. The average disability check is around $1500 a week. The average unemployment check is around 70 to 500 dollars a week.

If people who are disabled or so discriminated against why are too many people every year applying for disability? 2 million people apply and 70% are denied and still they will apply again.

If the benefits for disability We’re so bad Why would millions be trying to get them every year? We actually have the opposite problem. We have too many people who could work but want to get disability instead. We have a record numbers of people claiming they’re disabled. 38 million people are getting disability benefits. If people disabled we’re so discriminated against why are so many people trying to get that status?

Have you never filled out a job application at Boeing before? They literally ask you if you have a disability and what disability it is to get special consideration for employment. In fact, you’re more likely to get hired. If you report you have a disability because you get the same special consideration that minorities and women get on applications.

We literally have the opposite problem in this country with too many able body people claiming they are disabled just to get the benefits. We have 38 million people on disability and that’s with 70% of Claims rejected. 2 million people apply for disability a year.

If there was so much discrimination against this disabled as you claim, why would are do many people claiming they are disabled? Wouldn’t it be the opposite? Wouldn’t everyone be claiming they’re not disabled to avoid being discriminated against?

It sounds like you only believe race and gender are discrimination. Guess no one else does in your warped world.

If you look at Disabled people's, any category unemployment rates, it sure looks like as a group they got it a lot worst. Such as high unemployment rates going back 50 + years due to lack of employment opportunities, even to this day, low home ownership, inadequate health care etc. Sure, looks like the disabled get discriminated against. But they probably don't count in your mind because they don't fall into your only race and gender categories. During COVID, a lot of disabled people, especially the deaf community were widely denied adequate medical care.

Check out how HR bozos are bold to openly discriminate or tell others how to get away with it when it comes to employment opportunities regarding one category of disabled people.

Gee, I wonder why Boeing can't execute a program on time and on budget.

I guess the backwards thinking extends beyond the racism we see in this thread.

Yep, that would explain it.

Why? Because I stated that no person, regardless of their gender or race should ever be discriminated against?

You are literally the definition of immoral and unethical. People like you who claim it’s OK to discriminate against whites or males, etc., are evil. Because you know it’s wrong but you justified because you think you will benefit from it.

No one should have to experience that including white men. But you think it’s it’s OK because you’ve benefit from it. There’s no difference between you and the people in the Jim Crow era who created policies that discriminated against blacks. None. You literally do exactly what they did then. Then it was black now it’s white men.

If you are party to the 10% layoff next year, this would benefit the company. Your poor attitude is not what the company needs right now. You are part of the problem, not a part of the solution. You engage in name-calling, lack fairness and critical thinking, and are a poor communicator. You are not a leader.

AOC and the squad might be interested in designer brand clothes but won’t likely help an old white engineer with a pocket protector who serves no political purpose for them.

Your friend was right. The white man is under siege. You’re just too racist to see it.

The same argument that people today used to justify the discrimination against white men is the same argument that was used to justify discrimination against blacks during Jim Crowe.

Saying that you can’t be racist against white men is the same as saying you can’t be racist against blacks during Jim Crowe. They literally make the same argument to justify discriminating against white men that was used to justify discrimination against blacks.

Wayne has any other race experienced discrimination over the last 60 years but white males? You act like you grew up during the Jim Crow era. There has been systemic discrimination against white men ever since the civil rights act was passed in 1965.

I had a friend of mine actually say to me that the white man is under siege. I just looked at him and did not say a word. Because the rest of us have been under siege for decades if not generations, and we just had to endure it.

What about discrimination against disabled employees? Has any lawyers ever filed a suit against Boeing for that? From what I have witnessed working in St. Louis, the way some disabled people get treated by Boeing managers and leads, they sure would have a solid discrimination case in my opinion.

Does what all you said apply to you too? Sooner or later, you are going to be in the same situation. I don't see many people under the age 40 working at Boeing having major impacts.

Wait until F-47 major design and technical issues start hitting the fan. Boeing's going to go into panic mode, if they are not already there now and quickly realize they need to hire older more experienced engineers to come into the Program.

Years of service should not be the only factor in retention. I worked with a few people who had lots of years of service, but some were not effective at their job. They were in with their boss, low pay, etc. Y.O.S. should be one of many factors to determine retention.

by

Post ID: @dm+1kaj464gz

Boeing pushed the engineering union to remove the guaranteed retention ratings based on years of service and they immediately started laying off their oldest employees when the union made that concession. It’s pretty overt age discrimination.

Boeing has been starting to lose age discrimination cases. There were a couple cases in St. Louis that Boeing lost. I think the judicial system will recognize that this type of abuse. The general public is no longer in favor of corporate welfare or giving these corporations a free pass.

As far as age discrimination, if you’re a white and even Asian male, it’s extremely difficult to find a job. It’s even more difficult if you’re older. You can thank DEI.
