They just laid-off 13,000 employees. So sad. We did NOT think that this was going to happen a year ago. Some things, like lay-offs are out of the employees control. As they say: "Everything happens for a reason". Our family member is in shock. Been there done that, myself. There IS a light at the end of the tunnel.

@a3 Same for me in the 80s with GE. I devoted all of my skills heart and mind. Won 2 Mark Makers trips. Came home from the second one and got laid off the next month. I had been there 10 years. Division sold off /closed within 2 or 3 years. I ran circles around the "guys" who were taking 2 hour lunches on the company Credit Card as well as being so-so IT persons. I was DEVESTATED as you sound. I would never give up the direction my life took!
@a1 they betrayed me...... politics etc ... friends of friends with no skills could stay ... got riffed ... never sick in 20 years, ovations, awards, etc... a shame..
still looking today for another job
They tried to sell me to Infosys in 2018. Wasn't happening. Best decision I ever made. Those of you impacted WILL get through this and be better for it.
I had 23 years at VZ. I was RIF'd 2017. I whistled all the way out the door and I never looked back. There's life after VZ.
