Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Layoffs

Did anybody realize last week's layoffs were coming? For me, it completely came out of the blue. Now I'm even more nervous that it can happen any day without warning, and it's not helping my mental health at all.

The best is how almost all the people impacted are like levels 8-14, in other words the people who actually do the work. All meetings at 3m are full of a bunch of high level leaders asking why we cant go faster while one guy or gal with a shovel has to prop up all of the so called leaders

It’s another reason layoffs are so awful (besides those directly impacted). It causes ripples of fear and anxiety. 3M is and will continue to be a company that doesn’t care about employees. The only thing you can do is take care of yourself.

These layoffs were Plan B for BB should only a few people voluntarily leave after RTO was enforced in September. BB is trying to help cash flow by reducing headcount through voluntarily attrition. It isn't working. So he did what he's always done in his past jobs. Fire a bunch of people.

But hey rhe share price has doubled under him so why not fire more!
