Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Dan and his crew are fear mongers themselves.

Across my career, leadership has pulled the same tired scare tactics… threatening people with unemployment, dangling PIPs, and handing out code-of-conduct write-ups like candy. It’s always the same script: intimidate the workforce and hope fear keeps everyone quiet.

Then Dan strolls in and casually tosses out ‘layoffs’ like it’s his fun fact of the day. Another pressure play. Another attempt to make people sweat.

Well, on behalf of every corporate employee who’s done being toyed with: Dan, you can’t threaten us with a good time. I’m not lurking on this forum because I’m scared of losing my job. I’m here waiting on my check. And honestly? Even if you don’t lay me off, I’m out the door after my FMLA anyway.

"handing out code of conduct write ups like candy" is a very ignorant and one sided statement. If you violate the code of conduct you get written up, its not rocket science. Coming from a former SM, to put someone on a code requires a ton of documentation meaning prior verbal warnings, then it has to go through an intensive HR review in which they look at any other similar code violation to ensure the write up level is consistent. Its almost impossible to "just hand out a code write up like candy". Code violations are things like call avoidance, customer mistreatment, stealing from the company, etc.

Anyone who thinks this is a fear tactic is beyond naive lol this was a warning to get everyone prepared. Most companies would hit you with a layoff out of the blue.
