Ex-IBM director alleges termination part of Black executive purge

A 26-yr. old black executive?? No other way to describe that aside from DEI hire. She's going to lose her case.

A POC gets hired "it must be DEI" no, it's because POC can also be promoted based off of merit. This kind of toxic attitude is exactly why DEI came about. It's not about quotas, it's about ensuring consistency in the organization to eliminate inherit bias. Things like, women not getting equal pay to men, or people being hired and promoted based on caste. Claiming someone with 26 years of experience is a "DEI hire" is straight brain dead.

@e7 it's amazing that this ex-Director is only suing for a lousy $1,050,000 in damages, along with back pay, front pay, costs, attorney's fees and interest. She should have sued for at least $10 million in addition to all those costs, lawyer fees etc. IBM has a ton of money - if they can pay a pathetic schmuck like Alvind more than $25 million for compensation in 2024, she should ask for more after being at the Blue Wheel for 26 years. IBM SVPs only learn about respect for DEI when they bleed (sorry, hemorrhage) lots of $$$ for their business units as a result of lawsuits. They should take it out of Alvind's compensation and bonus for 2025.

CORRECTION: This is suit was brought by a 26 year veteran of IBM, not a 26 year old employee of IBM

Yes, IBMers of ALL races are being replaced by Indians. Even Indians are being replaced when they're not from the right caste or region or don't speak the right dialect. Or aren't the department leader's neighbor or relative or friend from back in the village.

Washington earned a base salary of $305,000, plus a $120,000 bonus and approximately 300 shares of company stock when she was let go.

She filed a charge with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in mid-July 2025 and received her right-to-sue notice two weeks later. The lawsuit seeks at least $1,050,000 in damages, along with back pay, front pay, costs, attorney's fees and interest.

The three black executives that I encountered over decades at IBM were clearly DEI hires and not properly qualified for their roles

Was IBM replacing this DEI BLM leader with a Chinese Director ? That is hilarious. Only at IBM would you have such a stupid and ridiculous situation. I'm fairly sure this never happened any Desi (Indian) folks at IBM yet. Alvind watches out for them and makes sure they survive during his reign of pathetic incompetence.

A 26-yr. old black executive??

No, someone with a 26 year career with IBM.

And this all makes no sense since the 'perpetrator' works for a black man.

They should bring back that wonderful IBM HR snake Sam Ladah - he always knew how to cheat and dodge his way through the system with his vast knowledge of IBM HR rules and regulations. I'm sure he could give them multiple reasons in court for laying off black executives who were making much more $$ than others. IBM is su-king up to Trump these days...LOL ! But they are so good at agesim when they lay you off, the IBM HR and McKinsey guys could write a book to supercede any other books on it.
