In terms of the "axed" comment. As the strategy has always been cost saving and doing what is cheapest, not what is the right thing to do for the right reason. They have products active products that they dont have the source code for, products they cant complie, products with out a single developer to support it.
And they dont have or dont know how to built security into thier products. They took the knee jerk/short term solution and adopted it as their go only forward strategy for cybersrcurity (using perimeter tool).
I keep on hearing that "no one is immune" What a great way to modivate people and engage EEs. To me that suhhests to poeple they should be looking for a new job, just in case.
And they were told
"that the big salaries were the target".
Just the way the work, as in April 2029 750 employees were cut.
In "silly" opinion I wonder why all these types of companies go on a sending spree that i) isnt supported by growth, ii) they cant afford, iii) waste time and money on excess hiring costs and then severance costs that cant be justifed as a sustainable business decision.
There has been some SLT duplicate roles eliminated last week. I expect more if any this week and major reorgs in April.
Has anyone been informed yet? Its all been vey quiet and was expecting to hear something
Vast majority of the cuts will come from the newly acquired company - Microfocus. Opentext, the serial acquirer of companies, has already “right-sized” the ones it already owns. Some of its existing product lines are currently struggling to keep the lights on since a lot of great talent decided to rage-quit during 2022. The employees that stayed had to pick up the workload with way less resources and with no chance of hiring to fill in empty positions. This is what this bottom-line driven company does, read older posts from years ago to figure out their M.O.
I don't see how they can maintain 10% of the Microfocus customers once the outsource everything to India, close local offices and say openly that some products will be axed, just like that.
I fear that everything not related to mainframes or security will be shut down.
I don't get their strategy, to lose their customers like that. It reminds of the takeover of CA Technologies by Broadcom.
We have notified their major customers that OpenText failed to update the stuff behind their critical products for 3-5 years, yeah, OpenText is a sh-t hole place and their customers should be fleeing like crazy!
What is gonna happen with HPE?
What do you mean by "axed"? Will they discontinue those products?
Every time a big round of layoffs occur a LOT of good, high performers are just moving on to way better workplaces. Then they scramble to minimally fill in the gaps (mainly in India). The big direction for the company is to move engineering to India as fast as possible to make the balance sheet look good, especially due to latest big acquisition of Micro Focus. Every non-stellar product from the acquired company will get axed immediately.
HR, Marketing, Sales, Misc. Administrative jobs will go first, then low(er) performing highly paid employees (U.S. first, Canada second), also small satellite offices will be closed and full remote employees will be let go. Clear direction is outsourcing as much as possible to India. Legacy products are being kept as long as they are increasing in sales and market share, otherwise personnel will get chopped down to a minimal/maintenance level or shelved/shut down all together.
