Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Should I stay away?

lost my job two months ago and have been interviewing. DXC gave me an offer (US position) But the reviews for the company I see online are quite concerning. however being currently unemployed I'm caught between a rock and a hard place on taking this or waiting to get other offers. The position pays about 10k over what I was previously making too.

anybody have any experience to share?

Things have got worse recently.

Definitely a no brainer 100% terrible company, most people are looking to leave, no point joining.

The old adage. It's easier to find work, when you are in work.

But keep your eyes open.

If you need the job and there's no other immediate opportunities available, it's up to you - go for it if you can't hold off. Just go in with ground-level expectations, no pay rise (so be ready to live at your salary for however long you're there), poor mid to upper management decisions etc.

I left dxc shortly after it was established. I was originally HP but we got spun off and merged into DXC. The company culture was unbearable for me, quite the oposite to what I was used to at HP. Lots of managers and layers of hierarchy but only top make the decissions. Everything was super cumbersome, no room for initiative... Meh. I don't regret leaving although I changed carreer slightly and am on much lower pay. But still happier. I know of friends who still work there and are ok. They are much less sensitive to (annoyed by) BS and quite cynical so probably more capable to deal with this company culture.

I'd say go for it, but keep an eye on any red flags. For me, I only started feeling cynical towards DXC in recent months, and I've been here for over 3 years. I'm EMEA though

DXC is just another ponzi scheme, they need new younger crews to sc--w over, since the incumbents learned their lessons and left or are not doing much anymore 😉 🙄 😏. The fact that thier HR lakies come on this site to muck their employees says enough of what your getting into. In fact for every bad review on glassdoor, the poor hr guys in India are forced to write 3 good bs reviews 😆 🤣 😂.

For anyone who worked or works at DXC in the US, just go to the ssn web site and look at your reported income since the inception of DXC and you will see that after benefits effective total take home pay had been going down year over year...

The bonus/pay structure at DXC is a very simple, Mike and his gang get millions and the staff get reductions to pay for his extravaganza and gluttony.

He said 3 years ago that he was introducing annual merit increases and he lied and hasn't delivered them. Folks today are getting 0% raises in High inflation times.

It's amazing so much of the levels of management don't challenge his behaviours.

Says much about the management style and communication flow which is dictator style.

How are managers going to grow the organisation when it's been plundered by Mike, yet the staff who are supposedly the main assets are beaten all the time.

The staff get told that pay is not important, but other things make it worthwhile at DXC. Then Mike takes 50% raise for himself.

Whats important to staff??? Constants cuts, rundown, abuse, pressure, and more cuts whilst pay seems to be important only for Mike and the gang who say one thing and do another.

So if you want to join a madhouse your welcome otherwise its safer to go to a better place.

For someone that worked there the $10k bump is the only increase you will see once hired. I was talking with my current employer today and explained the bonuses and raise structure at DXC and they were d-mbfounded that a business can still exist if being run that way. If you need the money take the job and keep looking. Personally I would never work there again or recommend anyone to them. Good luck!

you come to this site and post a question - 'should I stay away' - seems like you are already a wishy washy guy and most of the guys here, polluted your mind more. Don't believe you belong to DXC and if your hiring manager sees this he will appropriately deal with this situation!

This journey has been going for more than 10 years, just bull from Mike.

If you don't believe it just check the figures revenue drops every quarter.

Then check the pay of Mike Salvino has gone from $7 million to $28 million in 3 years.

And the employees get 0.

All the information is available on public Web sites for you to verify.

Toxic management, would stay well clear of this company, they will drive you mad.

Well you heard from all the useless guys which we are trying to offload and have been a drag to the company. Essentially the environment is bad because of the people these type of people. An earnest attempt is made to reverse it and we are hiring people who can help the company recover. So welcome and join in the efforts of getting this journey right.

I left DXC UK 3 months ago. I can confirm what others are saying. Pay rises are almost non-existent. CEO is utterly toxic as is most of the board. If you’re out of work then take the job and see how you get on. You’ve got nothing to lose, but I’d keep job seeking in case something better comes along.

Don't take it unless you are really struggling. The place is very toxic and unless you protect yourself you can end up in a very bad place mentally. Given you seem desperate for work, you are probably vulnerable to being taken advantage of. It really is that bad.

The 10k reflects the need to pay more for new hires because of the attrition and market but its a big sh*t show of old tech, angry clients, inept management, greedy execs, trapped disenfranchised workers and the aforementioned delusional.

Don't walk away from this offer... RUN

If you have no other offer at present, (and as offer is more than you were on) GRAB it.
But...
treat it like a contract - ALWAYS be looking for your next move - just like our Execs.
As others have said; any job is better than no job. Assuming you can stay in the contract mindset, and get out before you are institutionalised, bitter, and de-skilled - you'll be OK

Depends on whether you're looking for a CAREER or just a JOB. A CAREER, fugettaboutit...
A JOB, take it for the cash now but NEVER, EVER stop looking to get out. And leave A.S.A.P. The shenanigans this so-called company perpetrates is legendary. All the horror stories posted online about this place are true...the good reviews are put up by functional mental patients with delusions of grandeur or by the C-Suite themselves. (part of their shenanigans). DXC is full of NEGATIVE IONS, the POSITIVE IONS are INSTANTLY repelled... Burger Kings workers get raises, you, however, will not...ever....EVER. On second thought, unemployment benefits beat out this place by a few miles...maybe just keep looking...

It's a very toxic company, constant cuts so as an employee they will cut everything you have, you even have to justify you works phone line every year.

Other companies give iphones and data etc and this company expects you to provide them a mobile handset for business use.

All the money saved is moved into the bank accounts of the Mike and the main execs every year.

Don't expect to get a pay raise again especially as you will be on a lot higher than existing employees.

All the employees are demoralised, and have nothing to look forward to, the strategy is that the company is being shrunk down every quarter, with a view to closure.

Upto you if you don't have a job it's a short term stepping stone before you move to the next job in any other company which will be 10x better than DXC.

If you are in low cost location (e.g. India) you will see regular pay increases and recognition but other locations do not. So get a good salary you are happy with as it may be the salary you have for awhile. Just don’t expect an increase and you should be just fine.

Take the job. Everone is pi---d because we got no pay rises. Being in work and looking is better than not looking, but don’t expect a payrise.

If you're happy with your starting salary and have zero expectation of it ever changing, then sure join the club. Just don't have any expectation that you will enjoy your time here or will be rewarded for your efforts.

A job at DXC is better than no job, just keep in mind the advice given in the comment below regarding no payrises etc.

I would never advocate someone leaving another job to come to DXC.
