How to get severance

I really want to leave Ford and have over 10+ years of service. Is there a way to get a severance? Low performance? Refuse going in office? Complain about AICP and merit increase?

Or should I just quit and not look back?

I take it that you plan to either take time off between jobs or not get another job and you want Ford to bankroll your 'me time'? Any normal person with 10 years would find another job an not focus on severance.

I feel sorry for your coworkers. You suck.

If you have a cushion job at Ford, don't leave. Be a Quiet Quitter as long as you can. Work from home, side jobs, and personal work and still get paid.

@1wmq+1kUViRih think about it, though. most of the complaints on this board are employees thinking the company is going in the wrong direction and making a hash of things. they want the company to succeed and make excellent vehicles. but they are not allowed to.

I’m hearing that this website is a set up to encourage current employees at Ford to leave the company. I’m other words brain wash them so much that they leave on their own. Even if a small percentage acts based on the false propaganda on this site, it’s a head count reduction for free. Really , things aren’t as bad as are portrayed here, and at the same time the grass ain’t any greener outside Ford either.

Think twice before you pull the trigger based on the free genius advice published on this forum!

Between the 2022 SIRPs, retirements and voluntary quits, Ford lost 5K people last year. If you are waiting for a package, you might be waiting for a long time. Stop crying and start looking for another job.

You're wrong. Our leaders have no backbone. So a volunteer would be gladly accepted by the LL4. They hate those job cut meetings in case one of the cutees gives them a piece of their mind. Knowing one will go smoothly and without drama will make them jump at they opportunity.

Again, our leaders are spineless, feckless wimps. Telling an LL4 you want to be next is a solid way to get a package.

Stop attending meetings
Stop payimg attention
Stop supporting in any ticketimg platforms
Stop suppprting the guy above you
Slowly you will be included in the next layoff.

Find another job and then quit. Don't stay if you are not happy.

You need to find another job and put in your 2 week notice. Do NOT tell anyone at Ford you are job searching. Do NOT go to your LL4 and offer yourself up for a severance package. If you do, suddenly your performance will go down, management will make up reasons why your performance is bad, which are untrue and then they will cut you without any package.

@OP,

You're in automotive! Just where are you going to go? All of the OEMs follow each other. Suppliers are not the place to be either. The only place to go in automotive is the UAW. LOL.

I would go to your LL4 and tell them that you are hearing rumors of another round of layoffs and that you'll volunteer to be one of the cuts.

Make it sounds altruistic. "I feel bad for my colleagues and would prefer to have one of them and sacrifice myself."

The LL4s are the bottom of the layoff cr-p rolling down hill. They are the ones that get to decide who stays and who goes, so going to your LL4 is the way to go.

If you have been here 10 years and don’t know your leadership buttons then just resign
Otherwise push those buttons with abandon, publicly if possible.
Low/no performance is NOT the ticket

Find another job and don't look back. Why prolong your agony? If you only have 10 years you probably aren't old enough to be firmly in the separation target zone.

Hello - yes there is a way. If you look on the HR portal and search for voluntary separation without explanation (VSWE) process this may help explain how to do. I've only been at Ford a couple years and have never heard of anyone doing this. I believe there is also ISWE - which is just involuntary vs voluntary.
