They didn't call it RIFinitiv for nothing. Many of us old-timers were familiar with the brutal and demoralising annual 'rounds' at TR under the all-wise, all-knowing and very hardworking Thomson family.

After Blackstone came and added so much shareholder value [cough, cough], some dim-bulb diversity hire in HR wanted to 'maximise employee engagement.' So these days the dirty deeds are done by stealth. Derisory annual increases and hellish conditions to compel good people to quit cheaply, and forced-ranking + quiet firing + and offshoring to army of warm bodies in third world countries to cut the rest. After all, if you get unceremoniously crapped out after devoting the best years of your life to enriching such great people, it's nice to know you probably had it coming, right?

Unfortunately for me personally, working in heaven was just getting too much, and I crashed back down to Earth. Too bad I'm going to miss all the fun.
