Marketing dept at head office in Canada let a bunch of people go a few weeks ago...apparently the management team they put in charge five years ago will be gone this Summer when they're contract is up. Dave Mazzone did what they had asked...destroy everything...replace everyone with freelancers...

At least 5 people in merchandising were let go today. It was a bit of a surprise. At least one of them was long overdue to get walking papers.

Speaking from the Corporate Retail side of the business, there have not been layoffs since summer 2020, we are easily getting bonuses for those eligible, and things seem good right now. I know different areas in NAD have struggled, but there are many different parts of Staples and not all are doing terrible.

I’ve seen multiple people on this thread now saying that there haven’t been layoffs in years. Are you all trolling, living under a box or did JL send you here to mix up the message?

Awful place to work I worked there for 25 years started as a cashier all the way to general manager quite 6 months ago never realized what it was like to work for a new company that actually cares about their employees not just brags they do and does nothing we all were just a number there my last Dm was the worst I have had she knew nothing never deserved or nor she was qualified to be a Dm staples used to be a great place to work now they are just bleeding it dry people have positions that have no business being in and I actually got sick because of this company we are. Just a number they don’t care about anyone especially not a dedicated 25 year employee so what makes you think they will care about anyone it really is sad but the best thing I did was leave lone my new job wish I did it years ago was scared to do it but was the best I hope you get out because you will be so much better off

I love it when people come on here and call other people whiners. Especially if they cannot spell dying correctly. (Dieing). The purpose of this site is to be able to express your views and opinions on the company you are employed at or no longer employed at. I'm sure there's many people who would change who they work for in a heartbeat if they could, so ignore the advice of the post below mine. You do you. If you can get out get out if you can't feel free to let out some of your frustrations so it doesn't eat you up inside.

Dieing company. Leave. .... there are so many jobs out there. I laugh at the whiners. Boo hoo. Dieing company, they are terrible but yet you're still there. Have some respect for yourself. LEAVE......

Staples Professional in Canada had more restructuring this week, we lost a bunch of people. It never ends.

JL knows what he is doing. Just chill and trust leadership.

We've lost a couple of mid-level managers with restructuring on the direct side, including one very, _very_ good one. A member of my team has left the company on their own volition; another is moving over to contract. It's starting to feel kind of empty around me. I'm looking to get out by September myself at this point.

Whoever is saying we haven't had layoffs since 2020 is a mo--n or maybe hasn't worked for staples that long

eyj+1kQewhtu what rock have you been under all these years? There was a massive layoff a year and a half ago and several other layoffs before then. Get the facts straight.

Last big layoff was summer of 2020 in retail. It looks unlikely to happen in 2023, but that doesn't mean it won't since store count continues to decrease. Retail is doing pretty good right now, but not sure how sustainable it will be.

too much worrying about layoffs there hasn't been a large lay off in 5 years it only been a few people here and there no whole department like years ago. don't worry plenty of years to milk

Asking because @agbj+1kFrGsJC mentioned being let go, but I haven't heard anything outside of that.
