Do you think this is legitimate and an actual chance to improve performance where needed, or is it just setting the groundwork for a layoff. What do you think about it, especially if you got a "Yes" for low performing.

It means you're on the list of employees being considered as the next IBM CEO.
Are checkpoint final review still ongoing or just not many people tagged as low performers?
The manager who in November told me I was being "redeployed" just came up to me and mentioned how my performance in Checkpoint was lower than others in the department. Wondering if in reality they did something similar to this honestly
IBM kinda sucks. There, I said it.
Let me guess, you're over 50 yo, with over 20+ years of service, am I right? Yes?
However could I know that? Is it because I'm psychic, or .... ?
IBM will low performance you out of the job as it is one of their tactics to try to avoid calling you a layoff.
At the beginning of the month, managers were forced to tag 10% of their employees as low performers. IBM is trying to reduce the scope of an upcoming layoff. The game is that a good chunk of these “low performers” will leave on their own, add some “redeployments” and some normal attrition, and IBM will not have to announce a big layoff. But you can be 100% sure this is about headcount and not performance.
