You can say it's important, needed, a part of the world today, but to say it's the CENTER is absolutely ridiculous. Technological advancement and innovation is at the center of Seagate's long term success. Those things only require intellectual excellence, drive, and a competitive spirit. Innovation cares not about your background.

this industry is facing the inevitable as slowly the old curmudgeons with decades of experience retire and a new diverse generation emerges DEI is a corporate facade until a concerted effort reflects recruitment and retention from HBUs and other historically diverse and under represented universities
Maybe the executive director of DEI and the executive director of ESG can team up to drive success forward. The CTO should report to them and turn over the keys. The business excellence VP is now on the hot seat to claim some credit if any is left?
