Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

The last few months were a nightmare

I wish someone with more optimism would convince me otherwise, but I think things will only get worse here?

re: the 2nd comment - I was hired in 2021, let go at the end of 22. My whole team was offshored.

The people I know that were part of this round of RIFs had all been at TR for at least a decade; some were at the 30 year mark.

From someone who was there 10+ years and left in 2022 - let me confirm that TR is def NOT normal in this regard. It's a lack of strategy and mismanagement that causes this scale of layoffs year after year. Would be FASCINATING to see the data on how many of the layoffs they did during 2021 and 2022 were hired in the last 2 yrs. Definition of mismanagement if you cannot get your workforce plan sorted in such a way that you are laying off people you just hired.

I’m agree wholeheartedly. Every once in a while I get a brief glimpse of outside perspective to realize how toxic this place is and how it’s not normal to be as overworked as I am. I need those fleeting moments to increase so I have enough gumption to finally leave.
